MSE Rehearsal Monday 9th DecemberPosted: December 4, 2013
I promised you a more relaxed session to round off our year, and in some ways it actually will be 🙂
Whereas we’ve been playing though many Christmas carols / tunes each week, for our last session we’ll run with just three or four pieces … and these are continued from last term. We’ll record these and analyse them as a team exercise, and I’d like to use the results to shape how we approach our rehearsals next term.
Tunes for Dec 9th : Arabian Nights, Londonderry Air, St. James Infirmary, and possibly Limehouse Blues.
Note : I want to start off as we mean to go on in terms of preparation, so please make sure you have your own parts printed out and ready to play. Although we’re only running with a limited set of tunes, we’ve plenty of other stuff to cover ! I’ll send out an updated set of part allocations over the weekend, as a few have changed subtly. Please watch out for these and print out any new sheets you may need.
Finally, I have a homework task for everyone – part educational, and partly to help run the MSE as a team affair. It will involves you putting in about 2 – 3 hours of background work, which can be spread over both the Christmas break and throughout next term. More details on Monday !
In the meanwhile, I look forward to seeing you all on Saturday at 2pm outside Dealz. Matt is the only player to let me know that he won’t be able to make the session, so we should have a good turnout.
See you there.
