Two Sides of A5

Hi all,

The committee recently decided to invest in some A5 flyers to a) promote the band and seek performance opportunities and b) seek new players to swell out ranks.

Here’s a first draft from yours truly, seeking comments from all.

The flyer attached has two pages – one advertising the band, the other opening the door to new players.  Don’t forget to look at both pages !

Note – the photos are for illustration only, and I’d certainly like to take one of our current line-up prior to publication of the flyer.

Please let me have your thoughts on the content.

Cheers Jem

    Hi Jem,

    My thoughts:

Seeking new players: I actually prefer the wording on the attached flyer of being able to “sight read at an intermediate level and have a confident tone” rather than “…grade 3…” as you mentioned on Monday. I’m just thinking of myself a couple of years ago and grade 3 would have put me off… It really depends on who you want to attract… enthusiasts or half-decent musicians?

I do, however, agree with Andrea on removing the reference to “little background practice” with a more definitive tone.

Agree on adding the email address in bold at the bottom too.

Seeking concert venues: Would we like to add the keyword ‘charity’ somewhere? Although I take your point about saying little and the curious should go to the website for more info.

Is that an apostrophe before phone…?

I like the picture with some audience heads in it.

    Kind Regards, Jas

    Hi Jas,

Most of the wording discussions we’ve had over the leaflet centre around where to set the notional bar for potential new entrants to the group.

Michael thinks that the word intermediate can be mis-interpreted, but I think it’s representative of where we want to get to.

… and I think there’s a general feeling that we want to attract those who can contribute directly to our music.

I’ll put out a note with perhaps two sets of wording and we can have a show of hands next Monday.

… and I’ll have a look at Pasadoble later today.

    Cheers Jem
